In this program we will start on a steep and constant ascent, we will skirt rivers through the forest and with small views towards the mountains with their glaciers. In addition, we will see the wonder of flora and fauna of this place in order to reach one of the most beautiful viewpoints of this place.

We give you a unique and authentic experience. In the estancia La Península, which is located on the coast of the Ultima Esperanza fjord, surrounded by incredible nature. This place is only accessible by sea from Puerto Natales, therefore it is a quiet place for both visitors and animals. Experience that invites you to live and learn what life is like in a Patagonian estancia.

Accommodation in the City of Puerto Natales

On days 1, 2 and 3 you can stay at Hotel Costaustralis in the city of Puerto Natales. Includes accommodation based on a double room at night in this hotel known for providing one of the most privileged views of the entire city, with beautiful sunrises and magical nights thanks to the magnificent scenery that regional nature gives us.

Room:
Cozy, spacious and modern standard room equipped with a king-size bed. It has free WiFi, LED screen TV, cable channels, heating with individual control, safe and fully equipped en-suite bathroom.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and welcome to Puerto Natales

 

  • Transfer by regular bus from Punta Arenas Airport to the city of Puerto Natales
  • Arrival at Hotel Costaustralis
  • Welcome dinner
  • Night of accommodation based on a double room at Hotel Costaustralis

Day 2: Torres del Paine Base Trekking

 

  • Breakfast buffet
  • Night accommodation at Hotel Costaustralis

The adventure starts at 7:30 a.m. crossing the steppe until reaching the Torres del Paine massif, a granitic and sedimentary formation 120 million years old. The first third begins with a steep and constant ascent until the passage of the winds. This is the entrance to Ascencio Valley, to continue on a gentle descent to the Chileno Refuge, next to the homonymous river in the valley.

The next section will border the river through the forest and with small views of the mountains with their glaciers, ending at Camp Torres. The last section is the climb of a moraine, which will take us to one of the most visited and beautiful viewpoints in Patagonia.

Day 3: Full Day Estancia La Península

Full Day at Estancia La Península, located on the coast of the Ultima Esperanza fjord, surrounded by incredible nature. It is only accessible by sea from Puerto Natales, therefore it is a quiet place for both visitors and animals.

Experience that invites you to live and learn what life is like in a Patagonian estancia. Have a unique and authentic experience. The tour begins at 8:30 a.m. with a transfer from the hotel to the Natales pier, to set sail on a boat to the estancia.

After half an hour of navigation, the Peninsula arrives, where in addition to the welcome, the visitor is given an explanation of the activities. Where you can choose between a horseback ride, trekking or 4×4.

After this entertaining activity at the ranch, you will enjoy a typical Patagonian lunch with a small demonstration of sheepdogs, where you will be able to learn a little more about the breed of these working animals, as well as a shearing demonstration with an explanation of the shearing process, wool extraction and how to get from the raw material to the final product. Short free time and return to Hotel Costaustralis.

Day 4: Departure day

  • Transfer by regular bus from Costaustralis Hotel to Punta Arenas Airport

FAQ

Can everyone do this program?

On the first day the total distance to be covered is 20 km. This activity is not suitable for everyone. The participation of pregnant women is not allowed and it is not recommended for people with knee and/or spinal problems and people with respiratory and/or heart problems.

Is there a guide of what to take for the walk on the first day?

For the first day’s journey, we always recommend waterproof mountain shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, water, a hat for the sun, a hat and gloves for the cold, short-sleeved and long-sleeved shirts, fleece-type warm clothing and a jacket and waterproof pants.
