The Full Day King Penguin is an unforgettable tour during your visit to Patagonia

Our out Full Day King Penguin visits the second largest penguin on the planet. It is a migratory bird that moves from its breeding sites on some sub-Antarctic islands in search of food.

On the coast of Tierra del Fuego we know that this species of penguins has been a frequent visitor since the time in which the Selknam or Onas natives lived, due to the fact that bone remains of the King Penguin have been found in their archaeological sites.

Navigation through the Strait of Magellan to Tierra del Fuego and the King Penguin Park

Leaving very early in the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel or place of accommodation to go to the ferry that leaves from Terminal Tres Puentes in Punta Arenas to Porvenir on a 2-hour journey through the Strait of Magellan, the largest island in Chile.

During the navigation, it will be possible to see pelagic birds “high seas” such as petrels, sea lions and dolphins, characteristic fauna of the southern channels.

City Tour around Porvenir, Capital of Tierra del Fuego

Arriving at the island we will go to the city of Porvenir, an obligatory step in our Full Day to Tierra del Fuego and King Penguin Park, donde visitaremos el famosowhere we will visit the famous Fernando Cordero Museum and learn about the history of Tierra del Fuego, introduction of local livestock and culture of the nomadic culture of the Selknam or Onas.

We will finish our city tour in the Plaza de los Selknam. Then we will make a break for lunch at the Porvenir center.

Full Day King Penguin – Birdwatching of the second largest penguin on the planet

We will continue our journey through the Patagonian pampas until we reach Bahía Inútil, where the only colony of King Penguins is located in South America. The King Penguin Park is a particular conservation and research project for both the King Penguin and the entire area of the park and its surroundings.

In this place, a team of expert guides await us to give a brief scientific talk. Later we will go to the observation area where we will have a visit time of approximately 1 hour and a half.

We end this Full Day King Penguin Park returning to board the ferry that will take us on a navigation back to the continent.
