Calafate harvest: an unforgettable summer experience

Enjoy an exclusive summer experience at Estancia Mercedes: harvest calafates on horseback or on foot, learn to make your own jam and liqueur, and take home the authentic taste of Patagonia. Only available in January and February.

At Estancia Mercedes, we invite you to enjoy a unique and seasonal activity: harvesting calafate, Patagonia’s emblematic fruit, in a privileged natural setting. Available only during January and February, this experience can be done on foot or on horseback, bordering the picturesque bay between the sea and the forest.

During the tour, you’ll experience a relaxing and sensorial experience, ideal for disconnecting from the digital world and connecting with the landscape. While harvesting the fruits directly from the bush, you’ll learn about their nutritional properties, traditional uses, and their strong presence in Patagonian culture. The activity is complemented by local stories, time for photography, and moments of informal conversation.

Patagonian cuisine with your own hands

We’ll stop at a clearing to light a campfire and share a box lunch with fresh, local produce, in a natural setting that invites rest and contemplation.

Upon returning to the manor house, you’ll participate in a hands-on class where you’ll learn how to make homemade jam and a delicious calafate liqueur. Each participant can take their creation home as a souvenir, sharing a little piece of Patagonia with their loved ones.

This experience combines nature, tradition, cuisine, and local knowledge, and is ideal for travelers looking to take home more than just photographs: an authentic experience and the flavor of a unique place in the world.
