Enjoy this impressive tour where you will be able to observe the main archaeological centers of Cusco, which will be amazed by the beautiful Andean temples and you will understand how important the ancient capital of the Inca culture was.
The tour begins with the impressive Cathedral of Cusco which is located on the north side of the main square and in turn you will be amazed by its colonial architecture. Inside you will find paintings, murals, sculptures and antiques of great value.
Qoricancha:
The Qoricancha was the main temple of the Incas, it was also the main enclosure of the Sun God, in this place you will learn about the venerations of different gods that they had in the Inca culture, this place also known as the TEMPLE OF THE SUN, you will be able to observe the walls almost perfect which expresses the high level of engineering with which the Incas reached. In the Santo Domingo Convent you can see its collection of paintings made by artists from the “Cusqueña School of Painting in the 16th and 17th century” and these places are a clear example of the fusion of Inca and Catholic culture.
Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Center:
After your tour of the city, you will continue with the archaeological center of Sacsayhuaman located 2 kilometers from the city of Cusco, this place is an Inca fortress whose name means “satisfied hawk”, in this place it houses a great variety of Andean flora and fauna. such as: llamas, hawks and kestrels. In this place you will be able to observe the incredible engineering with which they managed to build these foundations.
Qenqo Archaeological Center:
Next, they will meet Qenqo located 4 kilometers from the city of Cusco whose name means “labyrinth”, in this place they will be able to observe underground galleries and a semicircular amphitheater, it is believed that gods such as the Sun were worshiped in that place, the Moon and the Stars. It is also believed that there was a place called “sacrificial room” that is located in the underground galleries, in this place whose shape is a large seat, it is presumed that they made human and animal sacrifices; this room is one of the best rooms kept in good repair.
Puka Pukara Archaeological Center:
After the walk of a few minutes, they will continue with the next archaeological center that is located 7 kilometers from the city of Cusco called Puka Pukara whose name means “red fortress”, thanks to the color that its stones have at sunset, this place presents several enclosures, interior squares, aqueducts and roads, which would have served as a place of rest and control.
Tambomachay Archaeological Center:
After the walk of a few minutes, they will continue with the next archaeological center that is located 7.5 kilometers from the city of Cusco called Tambomachay whose name means “temple of the water”, in this place they will be able to observe walls, canals, and aqueducts, this place was a spa for the Incas, in this place the water was also worshiped since the important thing about this place was the hydraulic system, which also contains 2 aqueducts carved in rock that transport clean water throughout the year, then they will return to the city from Cusco at the end of the day, around 6:00 pm approximately.
