Navigate the to Grey Glacier, get to know the Torres del Paine National Park and trek to the base of the Towers
With this program you will have the wonderful opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful glaciers in Patagonia. With the Grey Glacier tour you will navigate through the lake that bears the same name, thus entering the Grey beach sector.
You will also have the opportunity to visit the Torres del Paine National Park, a mandatory stop on a trip to Patagonia. This full day tour is perfect for a complete overview of the park as it takes you from one end to the other. You will start with a tour in the Cueva del Milodón Natural Monument, a place made up of three thousand-year-old caves, in which remains of a prehistoric mammal that was probably extinct, probably at the end of the Pleistocene, called Milodón, were found.
The next day, you will live the extreme adventure of the most well-known trekking in the area, the Trekking Towers Base, a medium-high difficulty trail that will allow you to observe the impressive granite towers up close.
Itinerary
Navigation Grey Glacier
The excursion begins by picking you up at the hotel in the city of Puerto Natales to go to the Torres del Paine National Park.
First, you must check-in at the Lago Grey Hotel, one hour before departure and then walk along Grey Beach to get to the boat. We tell you that, in the months in which the Pingo River increases its flow, you will take a boat offered by the hotel to reach the boat.
After around 1 hour of navigation, you will already be near the foot of the imposing Grey Glacier. You will appreciate from very close all the beauty and dimension of the ice walls that measure more than 20 meters.
In addition to the view of the Grey Glacier, you will also appreciate the views of Paine Grande Hill, the Paine Massif and the forests on the edge of Lake Grey. It is also possible to witness the pieces of ice break off the glacier and fall into the water.
During the journey, which lasts approximately 3 hours, you will see the prominent blue icebergs floating in the water and you will feel the typical Patagonian wind. The ticket includes one appetizer per person (pisco sour, soft drink or juice).
Full Day Torres del Paine
The full day excursion begins with a visit to the Cueva del Milodon Natural Monument. There you will visit the largest cave of a set of three caves, which inside keep more than 100 years of history and the remains of prehistoric animals.
You will continue the excursion entering the Torres del Paine National Park, where you will enjoy on the way the amazing view of Sofía Lagoon, Lake Porteño, Prat Mountain Range, Cerro Mesa, Sierra del Toro and Sierra Ballena.
After seeing the viewpoint of Lake del Toro, you will continue to the Lake Grey sector where a short walk of approximately 20 minutes will take place to reach the shore of Lake Grey, from where you will have another perspective of the Paine massif and the Cuernos del Paine, if the weather conditions allow it.
To end the excursion, we will visit the Amarga Lagoon beach and the viewpoint of Lake Sarmiento, which has a complete view of the Towers.
Las Torres base Trekking
The Trekking to the base of the Torres del Paine is worthy of all the fame it holds. In such a way that throughout the tour you will be able to appreciate the beauty of the flora and fauna of the Eighth wonder of the world.
The route is approximately 20 km each way. Firstly, you will travel 5 km to reach the Chileno camp, where you can stop to eat or go to the bathroom. Then, crossing a stream, you will come across completely different landscapes to those of the first stage, much greener and with surrounding forests. In this stage of the Las Torres base Trekking, there are fewer climbs and a less demanding path.
At the end of this point of the trek, the last stage considered the most demanding begins, in which one kilometer must be traveled, something that seems little at first glance, but of constant ascent between rocks.
However, once at the Torres del Paine base, you will feel that every effort was worth it, surrounded by one of the most incredible environments that you will discover on your trip and that you will surely never forget.
After its moment, the return begins along the same path and then continues towards your accommodation for a well-deserved rest.
