Description
To start this exciting adventure we meet at the Prat dock in the city of Puerto Natales, from where we will sail through the waters of the Almirante Montt Gulf towards the Kirke pass.
Navigating through the Kirke pass through the Santa María Channel we will find the imposing cliffs of the Riesco Mountain Range, after almost 3 hours of travel we will be able to observe in the distance, the mythical Mount Burney (1,520 masl), a passive volcano covered with ice, located on the Sarmiento Peninsula.
Once we are navigating through the Sarmiento Mountain Range, we will be able to see the five glaciers Zamudio, Bernal, Herman, Alsina and Paredes, which make up the main structure of the Las Montañas Fjord.
The first stop will be in front of the Zamudio Glacier, possible to observe from the boat and which offers the first and impressive view, the next colossus to visit is the Bernal Glacier, whose access is through a lagoon that receives snowmelt on its front face and transfers the water from this process through small tributaries towards the fjord.
Continuing the navigation through the interior of the fjord, and after almost 05 hours of navigation, we will be able to see the summits of Trono Hill and Dama Blanca. Its summits stand out for their elevation between ice and rocky walls. Among these hills is the Herman Glacier, immersed in a small fjord that flows into the Canal de Las Montañas.
After half an hour of navigation, we will arrive in front of the Alsina Glacier, the most impressive due to the height of its frontal walls. From there we will begin the return to Puerto Natales along the same route, leaving behind the “Kaweskar” National Park, thus ending this adventure that will raise your sense of wonder to the next level.
We will learn about the first humans who populated and navigated the Patagonian channels, the first explorations and the beginnings of colonization in the province of Última Esperanza, until our return to the city of Puerto Natales.
