Discover the Cordillera Darwin, located in the south of Tierra del Fuego Island, in the Alberto de Agostini National Park. Still very little explored by travelers who go to Patagonia, this adventure in the extreme south will impress you with its natural beauty.

As you can imagine, exotic wildlife, including elephant seals, leopard seals, penguins and albatrosses, populate the area. All this surrounded by the imposing Cordillera Darwin, with its more than 600 glacial basins, fjords and mountains.

The Cordillera Darwin Tierra del Fuego program invites you to embark on a 5-day experience that allows you to enjoy and connect with exuberant nature. You will be able to contemplate the flora and fauna, photograph beautiful landscapes and visit historical places.

Meet the King Penguin, Lake Fagnano and Parry Bay

The Cordillera Darwin Tierra del Fuego program will take you to see the main points of the island, starting with the colony of the second largest penguin on the planet. You will visit the King Penguin Park, which is a particular conservation and research project for both the King Penguin and the entire area of the park and its surroundings.

The next day, you will leave in the direction of Lake Fagnano. During the journey we cross a beautiful section, which has an imposing scenic beauty, lakes and mountains. Then you will make a navigation in Seno Almirantazgo to visit the colony of sea elephants.

To end the Cordillera Darwin Tierra del Fuego program, you will make an unforgettable exploration of Parry Bay. You can walk and get close to glaciers, in addition to observing the mountains and marine fauna of the area.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival and welcome

We will meet you at the airport and then take you to the hotel. At night, you will learn about the program and the team (driver, guide and assistants) that will carry out the expedition. In addition, a review of personal protective equipment and complementary equipment will be carried out.

You will rest on the first night of accommodation to continue your trip early the next day.

Day 2 – Heading to Tierra del Fuego

Around 7:30 a.m. we will leave the hotel in the direction of Tres Puentes, where we board a ferry. We will cross the Strait of Magellan to reach Tierra del Fuego (Chilota Bay).

Arriving in Chilota Bay, we will go to the city of Porvenir, to contemplate a brief visit to the main tourist sites and later have lunch.

After lunch, we will continue to the south of Tierra del Fuego. You will visit the King Penguin Park to see a beautiful colony of penguins. Next, we will transfer to the accommodation in Lake Blanco.*

To end the day, you will settle into the lodge and enjoy a delicious dinner.

* Lake Blanco is a place suitable for recreational fishing. If you are a fan of this sport, you should consider bringing equipment.

Day 3 – Get to know Lake Fagnano and Lake Despreciado

Early in the morning we will leave in the direction of Lake Fagnano. During the journey we cross a beautiful section, which has an imposing scenic beauty, lakes and mountains. We will visit the viewpoints and we will take a trail to Lake Despreciado.

In the afternoon we will arrive at the accommodation in Lake Fagnano, where you will have lunch. Then you will make a navigation in Seno Almirantazgo to visit the colony of sea elephants.

The day ends with a delicious dinner and night of rest in the accommodation.

Day 4 – Parry Bay Exploration

We will leave in the morning for an unforgettable exploration of Parry Bay.*

You will take advantage of walks and you will get close to glaciers, in addition to observing the mountains and marine fauna of the area. There is a break for lunch to then continue enjoying the place.

In the afternoon we will return to the accommodation to rest and enjoy the last dinner of our program.

* Navigation Parry Fjord is subject to weather conditions, so the itinerary may be modified.

Day 5 – Return to Punta Arenas and farewell

Is the program suitable for everyone?

The program is not suitable for everyone. For safety, pregnant women are not allowed and the minimum age required is 14 years. In addition, it is not recommended for people with knee and/or spinal problems and people with respiratory and/or heart problems.

What to bring to the program?

We recommend that you bring waterproof mountain shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, water, a hat for the sun, a hat and gloves for the cold, short-sleeved and long-sleeved shirts, fleece-type warm clothing, and waterproof jacket and pants.
